Birmingham, ALA 56-year-old man from Eclectic was killed Wednesday when his pickup went down an embankment and hit a tree off Interstate 459.
William Gates was killed when his 1998 Dodge Ram left the interstate, went down an embankment and hit a tree along I-459 near Acton Road around noon Wednesday, according to Alabama State Troopers spokesman Sgt. Steve Jarrett.
Gates was pronounced dead at 12:33 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
Gates was from Eclectic, in Elmore County.
Alabama State Troopers are investigating the wreck.
