New York, NYTwo Nassau County residents were killed Sunday in a high-speed crash after they deliberately drove their van into a police squad car and then fled the scene. Eduardo Zapata, 23, of Westbury, and Jackeline Reyes, 22, of Bellmore, died in the crash on Homestead Turnpike in Elmont. The law enforcement officer was standing outside his squad car when Zapata intentionally backed into it and sped away. Soon after, police saw the van drive at high speed west on Homestead Turnpike and strike a vehicle that was waiting to turn onto the turnpike from Meacham Avenue.
