Eva Smalley was killed in a crash on Ind. 9 in Hancock County on Tuesday morning when she tried to avoid striking an animal in the road and swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a truck. The driver of the truck did not have time to avoid the crash.

Indiana State Police are investigating a crash involving 3 semis that closed a portion of I-70 in Hancock County early Tuesday.

All lanes of westbound I-70 at the 110.5 mile marker were closed following the accident that happened around 3 a.m. The interstate reopened around 4:30 a.m.

State police say no one was hurt.

A 65-year-old Beech Grove man died of injuries sustained in a Thursday-night crash on Interstate 70 in Hancock County, police said.

Frank Adams was driving a Chrysler 200 eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate when he collided about 10:30 p.m. with a semi-tractor trailer about a half-mile east of Ind. 9, said the Greenfield Police Department.

The driver of the truck — Jakub Huremvoic, 48, St. Louis — was not injured, police said in a release.

A number of accidents were reported on Thursday morning because of slick conditions on interstates.

Multiple crashes prompted authorities to shut down Interstate 70 in both directions in the Greenfield area.

According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Interstate 65 in Boone County, northbound and southbound, Interstate 865 and southbound Interstate 465 were snow covered, slick and hazardous.

Around 9:20 a.m., INDOT had five active crashes in the surrounding Indianapolis area.
