Two people were injured after a car crash in Middletown early Sunday morning on Westlake Drive. A Nissan Altima driven by Reynaldo Ruiz, 38, of Middletown, collided head-on with the Toyota Camry Valeriana Debrito, 53, of Rocky Hill, was driving. Debrito wasn't injured, but Ruiz and his passenger were transported to Hartford Hospital. The passenger was seriously injured, but her name has not yet been released.

A 25-year-old New Britain man was charged with operating under the influence after he crashed into a Middletown police cruiser early Sunday, police said. Christopher Griffiths, 25, struck a cruiser operated by Officer Patrick Kiely at the intersection of Washington and High streets around 12:50 a.m., police said. Kiely was stopped at a red light when Griffiths struck him from behind.
