Mobile, AL-Pensacola, FLA Loxley police officer was killed Monday in a single-vehicle crash in Stapleton. Sgt. Charles "Kerry" Mitchum, 57, of Loxley was traveling on Oak Lane at about 3 p.m. when the crash happened. He transported by helicopter to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, and later died. Mitchum was named the department's officer of the year in 2011. Mobile, AL-Pensacola, FLPigott was airlifted to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, where she died on arrival. Authorities report that road conditions were dry at the time. Pigott was returning to the University of Montevallo at the time of the crash.
