Wednesday, November 27, 2013Authorities have arrested a man they say sped through a red light and crashed into vehicle, killing an Ocala couple.
The Florida Highway Patrol arrested 30-year-old Allen Cole Godwin on Thanksgiving Day. He's charged with two counts each of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in the Oct. 24 crash that killed 67-year-old Ray Allen Kraus and his 64-year-old wife Pamela Jean Kraus.
The FHP estimates Godwin was travelling 78 mph when he ran the red light. Tests revealed his blood-alcohol level was .19, well above the state's legal limit of .08.

Thursday, November 21, 2013The president of a north Florida tea party group has been killed in a two-vehicle car crash in Marion County.
The Florida Highway Patrol told the Ocala Star-Banner that 70-year-old Stephen Hunter of Sparr died in the Friday night crash. Hunter headed the Ocala Tea Party or Tea Party Solutions for the last several years.
Troopers say Hunter was attempting to make a left turn on U.S. 441 and apparently did not see an oncoming pickup truck, which struck Hunter's car on the driver's side.
