Three people are dead after a single-car accident Saturday afternoon, and State Troopers investigating the accident said Monday that a 9-year-old girl is the wreck's only survivor.
Investigators said 30-year-old Melina Cheyenne Pruitt was driving on Bostic Road near Gordo, Ala. when her 2002 Ford Explorer went out of control, left the roadway and struck a tree.

Pruitt was killed, as were 12-year-old Cailey Goad and Railyn Pruitt, who was 7.

A woman was killed Tuesday evening in a hit-and-run in Talladega County.

The accident happened at 5:10 p.m. on Renfroe Road, eight miles west of Talladega, said an Alabama State Trooper spokesperson. The vehicle left the scene.

Killed in the crash was 38-year-old Cathy Cooper of Talladega. No other information was available, according to the Alabama State Patrol.

A wreck involving an 18-wheeler and a car closed Interstate 459 southbound Tuesday evening, halting traffic and tying up nearby routes for hours.

The collision occurred before 6 p.m. on a bridge near Acton Road and left a car dangling over the side of a bridge, a Rocky Ridge Fire District Chief said.

The female driver had to be extricated from the car through the front windshield, Lord said. She was treated at the scene and released.

The Birmingham police and fire departments responded to a multi-vehicle accident on I-20/59 northbound in Ensley about 9:45 p.m.

A total of six vehicles were involved, and four were damaged, according to the Birmingham Fire Department.

One person was transported from the scene, but there were no other injuries.
