The driver of a pick-up called his girlfriend to complain of chest pains just 10 minutes before his vehicle crossed the center line of State Route 7 and struck another vehicle. The driver is dead and six people from the other car were taken to the hospital after the collision. Both lanes of SR 7 are closed at 316th Street East near Eatonville and traffic is being detoured due to the collision. Two adults were taken to MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and four children are at MultiCare Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. Their conditions are not available at this time.

A head-on crash on Guide Meridian left two young men dead early Tuesday, Dec. 31, according to the Washington State Patrol. Travis Lee Holst, 23, the driver of a green '03 Chevy Tahoe, had been driving northbound on Guide Meridian before he crossed the center line near Smith Road. The Tahoe crashed head-on into a silver '97 Honda Civic driven by Brox Mitchell Browning, 20, of Lynden, at 12:17 a.m. Browning died at the scene.

Two drivers were taken to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon following a head-on collision Friday evening northwest of Burlington on Chuckanut Drive. Calvin H. Long, 54, of Everett was driving a Honda Civic on Highway 11 when he crossed the center line, colliding with a Chevy pickup truck. Bow resident David Crane, 61, was driving the pickup truck. The report shows Long was not wearing a seat belt. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was involved. As population grows in Skagit County, Washington State, we are seeing more and more collisions, many of them serious or fatal.

Two people were injured late Tuesday evening after a suspected drunken driver crashed head-on into another vehicle in Buckley. The accident happened about 10 p.m. on State Route 162. A pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old South Prairie man went off the highway near 130th Street, and the driver overcorrected. The pickup turned into the path of a car in the opposite direction. The South Prairie man and the other driver, a 55-year-old Buckley woman, were taken to the hospital. The State Patrol said alcohol likely was involved and the man could face vehicular assault charges.

A 25-year-old Oak Harbor woman was southbound in a 2009 Jeep Wrangler when she crossed the center line, according to the memo. The Jeep struck a northbound 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. The Jeep's driver was taken to a local hospital. The Chevrolet's driver, a 26-year-old Oak Harbor woman, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The Washington State Patrol says just before 5:30 a.m., a 17-year-old Ephrata boy was driving a Dodge pick-up westbound on SR 28 when he drifted off the road to the right, then overcorrected into the eastbound lane, where he hit a Ford Aerostar van head-on.

The crash was reported about 2:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.

The Washington State Patrol said a 78-year-old woman caused a crash on Interstate 5 near Mount Vernon when she turned around and started heading the wrong way. The crash happened shortly after 6 a.m. near Anderson Road when the Oak Harbor woman, who was heading southbound, turned around and headed northbound. The state patrol said the woman crashed head-on into a 29-year-old driver in the far left lane.

A Tacoma man riding his motorcycle died Saturday after a Gig Harbor woman driving a BMW crossed the center line about 7:15 p.m. in the 2800 block of East Bay Drive Northwest and hit him head-on. The 69-year-old man was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead after the crash south of Gig Harbor. He was identified as Alex Heinz. The woman, 71, was taken to the hospital for injuries, and is expected to be okay. Deputies don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved, but are waiting for test results to confirm, he said.What money damages are recoverable in a death claim?
