A skateboarder was hurt in a crash with a sport utility vehicle Saturday. Authorities with the Burlington Police Department said the crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Maple and Quintas avenues. Investigators said Christopher McKean, 23, of Burlington, was riding a skateboard on Maple Avenue when the SUV being driven by Bobby Westbrook, 68, of Burlington, attempted to turn right onto Maple Avenue and struck the victim. McKean was taken to University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill for treatment. He was listed in stable condition.

A 14-year-old boy was riding his skateboard on a residential road Tuesday night when he was hit by a minivan that drove away. He was reportedly struck from behind by a blue minivan and knocked to the pavement, said a spokesman for the Clark County Sheriff's Office. The boy suffered minor injuries from the crash, which was reported at 9:57 p.m. at 3909 N.E. 52nd Ave. in the Minnehaha area.
