A Roane County girl died Saturday days after a collision involving an ambulance and a minivan carrying the child's family on New Years Eve. Lillian Creek, 5, died three days after the crash on Highway 95 in Loudon County. Her mother, Jessica Creek, was driving a van when she crossed the highway's center line and collided with a Rural/Metro ambulance. Rescue crews transported the family to UT Medical Center, and then transferred Lillian and her 7-year-old brother to Children's Hospital. It is not yet known why the van crossed the center line.

Two school buses from Chilhowee Intermediate School and Sunnyview Primary School collided on the Ashville Highway in Knoxville Tuesday afternoon, killing two children and one adult. According to authorities, the Knox County school bus 44 from Chilhowee Intermediate School was traveling east on Asheville Highway when it made a sharp left turn and crossed over a concrete median.

Jackie and Larry Sparks were both killed as their RV went down a hillside and struck some trees, while their daughter Debbie Dorrell survived, but was pinned inside and had to be flown to UT Medical Center. The Sparks' were well known and long-time employees of the Hendricks County school district and will be missed by many.

Justin Mize, 31, died in a mining accident at the Nally and Hamilton mine in Bell County, Kentucky. The incident occured Tuesday October 7, 2014 on Centers Branch Road off Kentucky 92 when Mize was on a high-wall mining site and was caught under a rock collapse. This accident is currently under investigation.

Authorities claim two people aboard a small plane were injured when it crashed trying to land in Blount County. The Aeronca aircraft hit some trees while attempting to land on a privately-owned landing strip. Officials say both of the people on the plane were transported to local hospitals for their injuries. Murphy has already been treated and released.

According to the local Sheriff's Office, a 2002 Mitsubishi Mirage crashed into the back of a flatbed tractor trailer just before the on-ramp from Watt Road. The tractor trailer was in traffic that had stopped because of a stalled vehicle.

The teen driver of the van was taken to U.T. Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Gaston, who retired in October 2012 after serving 26 years with the Knoxville police department, wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

A small plane crashed east of Chattanooga on Wednesday, killing the pilot. The single-engine plane went down in a field in Ooltewah shortly after 2 p.m. The pilot was the only person on board. The plane took off from Knoxville and was headed to Jackson.

Police say a semi crossed the median and hit another semi head-on, hitting other vehicles and sparking a massive fire and explosions. Police say one person was killed and three others were injured in the crash, while two firefighters were injured while battling the fire. People living within a half-mile radius from the crash were evacuated for a few hours but were later allowed to return home.
