Bobby Kirkland killed in accident on Benning Road in Washington, D.C.

A suspected speeding driver was killed in a violent car accident in northeast D.C. early Wednesday. Bobby Kirkland was traveling west on Benning Road in an Infiniti car when he failed to navigate a turn, struck a light pole, and then continued along H Street before he ran into the back of a truck, police say. The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash, but Kirkland was transported to a local hospital where he died. Police said their preliminary investigation showed the driver of the Infiniti was traveling at a very high rate of speed. The investigation is ongoing.
