40-year-old Philip Leckburg was hauling rock to the north on Highway 285 in a dump truck when a southbound Buick crossed into his lane sometime before 9:00 a.m. Despite Leckburg's attempt to avoid a crash, the two vehicles collided head-on, and then both departed the roadway. The 76-year-old man who was driving the Buick was not wearing a seat belt, and died in the wreck. Leckburg sustained only minor injuries.

The crash occurred at 2:40 a.m. on I-10 at the 3.5 mile marker, which is west of Mobile near Grand Bay. Maria Elena Lemus, 41, was driving a  in a 2002 Ford Windstar when the van side-swiped a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer, ran off the road and overturned. Passenger Angela Lemus Lopez, 61, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Three other passengers were brought to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. No one was wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the tractor trailor was not injured.

Three teenagers injured in truck accident along Highway 47 near Vernonia, OR when the 16 year old driver lost control of the vehicle in a curve, driving the pickup into a ditch and crashing the passengers side of the vehicle into a tree.  The driver and another teeneager was taken to the hospital.  A family member took a third teenager, who was laying across the laps of three people in the back seat of the pickup, to the hospital.  Only four of the seven teenagers was wearing their seat belt.
