It was about 6:30pm when a van carrying Marshall P. Jack and many other male passengers was speeding and being pursued by a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer. The van eventually lost control and drove off of Highway 40, where it crashed and landed on its side. Jack lost his life in the accident, while three other men hospitalized with critical injuries. It is believed that alcohol contributed to the accident.

Neil Bannister crashed his car on Boutah Road near Alburgh, Vermont after police officers tried to stop him for speeding. Bannister attempted to evade police, resulting in the crash. He suffered minor injuries, and authorities believe alcohol may have been involved.

After Johnson was identified by local deputies, he attempted to make an escape in a stolen SUV and led police on a high-speed chase. Soon Johnson lost control of the vehicle, it rolled over, and he was ejected onto the roadway, dying in the process. Details on the case that caused this chase were not available.
