A 50-year-old woman died in an accident on Route 130 South just south of Quarry Lane on Friday morning after her vehicle struck a utility pole. The fatal crash occurred at about 8:20 a.m. when the vehicle struck a utility pole, causing it to fall onto the roadway, according to police. Police closed Route 130 in both directions following the accident, according to Lt. John Haas.

State Police say the driver of a car died after the vehicle slammed into a tree in the center median on the Garden State Parkway in Middletown.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Tuesday morning's crash closed the northbound express lanes, creating a 13-mile traffic backup and causing delays for motorists. Traffic was backed up to I-195.

A State Trooper stated that it's unclear if weather played a role in the crash. Police also says there was debris from a dead deer in the road and it's not clear if the motorist had swerved to try to avoid it.

A Rosenhayn man was pronounced dead at the scene of an early morning accident Sunday involving a tractor-trailer and a van on the N.J. Turnpike, a state trooper said. The accident in the northbound outer truck lane occurred near mile marker 96 at 1:40 a.m., he said. An investigation is continuing.

John Visconti III, 48, was driving a 1997 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, when it struck a 2001 GMC Safari van that was driving below the speed limit in the right lane, police said.

A 22-year-old woman traveling in a gray Scion with three other people died this morning after the car crashed on the Garden State Parkway in Brick Township, New Jersey State Police said. The driver of the vehicle faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, driving while his license was suspended, and causing death while driving with a suspended license, a State Police spokesman Trooper said.

A student and an aide were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center Friday morning after a car crashed into a school bus, according to city police. The small bus, carrying four students, was traveling east on Passaic Street when a vehicle making a turn from Esplenade onto Passaic struck the bus at about 8 a.m., Hackensack Police said. A student and a bus aide complained of back pain and were taken to the hospital, police said. The other students were uninjured but evaluated by medical personnel. Police are still on scene investigating the accident.

State police say a tractor-trailer struck and killed a Florida man who was standing on the New Jersey Turnpike. The accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the northbound express lanes in Englewood. Authorities say 60-year-old Izhak Shvarz, of Lake Mary, Fla., was standing next to his vehicle and was partially in the right lane when he was hit by the truck. No tickets have been issued and the accident remains under investigation.

A 50-year-old Freehold woman was identified as the victim in Monday’s fiery crash on Route 9, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor and the Old Bridge Police Chief said Tuesday.

Heidi Bennett was killed when her car was struck at about 12:33 p.m. by a tractor-trailer on Route 9 South at the Old Mill Road intersection.

An investigation the Old Bridge Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that a 2002 Hyundai Accent, driven by Bennett, was struck in the rear by the tractor-trailer.

A woman and two children were hospitalized after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver in South Jersey this morning. After striking the trio at Line Street and S 5th Street in Camden, the driver of the other car fled, according to Camden County Police. The unidentified woman and the children were taken to Cooper University Hospital to be check out after they complained of pain, according to authorities. Police didn't reveal the extent of the victims' injuries. The victims were put in an ambulance and as police investigated a flipped over vehicle.

Two people are hospitalized after a car crashed into a farmers market in Burlington County. The accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday at the Columbus Farmers Market on Route 206 in Springfield Township. Two people in the car were taken to the hospital, but their injuries do not appear to be serious. No other injuries were reported. The accident is under investigation.
