The fireworks in Miami had just concluded when a white, 32-foot (9.6-meter) boat carrying five young adults crashed violently with another vessel in the night.

The boat's operator was thrown overboard. Another passenger was tossed into the water, and two others left critically injured and unconscious.

With no one at the helm, the boat circled in the dark, crashing into a third vessel before a commercial salvage crew was able to pull up alongside it, jump aboard and bring it to a stop.

Authorities in Pennsylvania say a falling tree landed on a moving car, killing two of the four children sitting in the back seat. Police in Somerset County tell the Daily American that the car was in Conemaugh Township when the tree fell Monday afternoon. Coroner Wallace Miller says two children died of blunt force trauma. Conemaugh Township Police Chief Louis Barclay identified the victims as 8-year-old Ryleigh Freiwald and 6-year-old Mikayla Freiwald, sisters who are believed to be from the Johnstown area.

A leader in the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation was killed in an overnight traffic accident on the tribal grounds near Mayetta, authorities said.

Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation leaders identified the fatality victim as James M. Potter, who served as tribal council secretary.

The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed Thursday morning that troopers were on the scene and were investigating the fatality accident.

Additional information, including the time and location of the crash, wasn’t immediately available.

The Department of Natural Resources says a Des Moines woman was seriously injured when the all-terrain vehicle she was riding rolled over. The DNR says the crash happened Sunday afternoon at Bluff Creek park southwest of Oskaloosa when 36-year-old Roberta Curry apparently hit a tree root, causing the four-wheel vehicle she was riding to turn sharply and roll over. Curry was wearing a helmet, but it came off after the impact. She was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A 71-year-old pilot was critically hurt when a crop-dusting helicopter crashed onto the roof of a barn in central Minnesota. Morrison County sheriff's authorities got a report of the crash north of Little Falls just after 10 a.m. Wednesday. When deputies, firefighters and emergency crews arrived they could see the pilot in the helicopter but couldn't get to him immediately. That's because the helicopter had crashed through the barn roof but not through the ceiling. Firefighters eventually were able to remove the pilot using a ladder truck.

One person is dead after a personal watercraft accident on Joe Pool Lake. According to game wardens with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, a group of friends were riding what are often referred to as jet skis. There were four people on two separate jet skis when one ‘t-boned’ the other. “He was impacted from the side by another jet ski,” explained Bill Murphy, an Assistant Chief with the Grand Prairie Fire Department. “It was pretty significant trauma involved.” The impact killed one of the drivers – a 42-year-old man.

The woman who died after a car careened off a cliff at Edgewater Park Sunday has been identified.

Edith Pandur, 88, of Medina, died at the Perkins Beach area about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said.

The car Pandur and her daughter were in plummeted over the edge of a cliff in the park's western end, landing upside down on boulders about 30 feet below. The car never hit the water, Cleveland fire department assistant chief Brent Collins said.

9-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y., girl leaving church on Sunday was killed in a three-car crash, The Daily News reports.

Fourth-grader Rebecca Ramnarine died at Brookdale University Hospital shortly after the late-afternoon accident, the news site notes. The driver who caused the crash is also the suspect in a hit-and-run collision that occurred before the accident that killed Rebecca.

Two men were injured Tuesday in a helicopter crash in Garfield County. Sometime in the early afternoon, a U.S. Department of Agriculture helicopter went down in the southeast region of the county, according to Garfield County sheriff's spokeswoman Cheryl Church. One man was transported via helicopter to a hospital for injuries that were serious, Church said. Another man was treated for injuries that were not as extensive. The conditions of the two men and the cause of the crash were not known Tuesday

Authorities say a 30-year-old Hinesville man died in an all-terrain-vehicle wreck. Police say Dwayne Cornell Chapman was riding an ATV in Walthourville just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he lost control and struck a tree. Police say Chapman wasn’t wearing a helmet and suffered a head injury when he was thrown from the ATV. Chapman was pronounced dead at the scene.
