An employee with Oak Mountain Amphitheater confirms that the 18-wheeler was hauling equipment for Motley Crue. The band is still expected to perform tonight at the park on Friday night.
Authorities have identified a man killed earlier today in a collision with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 65 near Warrior. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Michael Wayne Marsh, 47. Marsh was from Hayden. The crash happened at 4:15 a.m. on I-65 southbound at Exit 280. An 18-wheeler and another vehicle, Marsh's 1998 Jeep Wrangler, were involved in the accident in the southbound lanes of the interstate just south of Warrior Jasper Road. Authorities said it appears both vehicles were traveling in the same direction. The 18-wheeler jackknifed, and shut down the on-ramp to I-65 at that exit. Marsh was pronounced dead on the scene at 4:52 a.m., said Deputy Coroner Phillip Russell. The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to the hospital. His name and condition haven't been released. The accident is being investigated by the Alabama State Troopers. Authorities this afternoon said they still don't know specifics of what led to the crash.
