The woman, 49-year-old Deborah Jean St. Dennis 49 of Vail, Arizona, reportedly was driving erratically when she lost control of her vehicle and plowed into the back of DPS patrol car that was parked on the shoulder of the freeway. The impact caused both vehicles to roll.
Both people in the police SUV were seriously injured, though officials believe that the new safety features of the SUV likely saved the lives of Lamb and Jones. Prior to the accident, another driver had called 911, reporting that the driver of the car that struck the DPS vehicle, Deborah Jean St. Dennis, of Vail, Arizona, was driving erratically.
