One Killed When Car Crashes Off Freeway, Into Tujunga Wash.

A driver was killed Thursday morning after crashing off a San Fernando Valley freeway and into the concrete-walled Tujunga Wash.

A driver was killed Thursday morning after crashing off a San Fernando Valley freeway and into the concrete-walled Tujunga Wash.

The crash occurred in the 4300 block of Vineland Avenue. The vehicle apparently crashed off the northbound 101 Freeway, then plowed through bushes and trees before going through a chain-link fence and ending up on its side in the bottom of the wash.

The driver died at the scene.

It was not immediately clear whether the driver struck another vehicle on the freeway before crashing into the channel.

The Tujunga Wash is a 13-mile stream considered a tributary of the Los Angeles River, located just south of the crash site.
