Four people were injured in a suspected DUI crash in Oceanside. The incident occurred on westbound state Route 76 near Canyon Drive on Friday evening. A Oceanside police Lt. stated that the driver of a Honda SUV was under the influence when he crashed the vehicle into a freeway sign pole. The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries and was then taken to jail. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to rescue three passengers from the wreckage. Two women were airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital. The third passenger, a man, was taken by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center. Police said all of the people in the SUV are in their 20s. Westbound SR-76 was closed from Benet Road to Canyon Drive for hours.
