Pedestrian killed trying to cross I-5 in San Diego.

The California Highway Patrol said all lanes of southbound Interstate 5 near the Coronado Bridge have been reopened after a pedestrian was struck and killed on the freeway Wednesday night.

The lanes were closed for about six hours and reopened at 2 a.m.

The incident was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the CHPl, the pedestrian was struck by at least three vehicles. One of the vehicles stopped, and its driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The CHP says the pedestrian was trying to run across the freeway when he or she was struck.

A pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash that closed most of south Interstate 5 in downtown San Diego for about 40 minutes Thursday afternoon, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

A witness said the person was hit by a passing vehicle while running from the right shoulder of the freeway near Park Boulevard about 1:20 p.m., according to the CHP’s website.

San Diego police were looking Friday for a hit-and-run driver who struck two women on a morning walk in University City.

The women were walking along Stresemann Street, near Governor Drive, about 6 a.m. when they passed a parked older-model red pickup, police said. Moments later, the truck struck them from behind and the driver kept going.

Police said a Hispanic male in his 40s was crossing westbound traffic from the side.

A pedestrian was fatally struck by vehicle late Sunday night in San Francisco near the Civic Center, police said.

The driver of a pickup truck travelling northbound on Van Ness Avenue struck pedestrian at about 11 p.m. on Van Ness Avenue, between Turk Boulevard and Golden Gate Avenue, police said.

Shyy said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperated with police.

A San Diego Gas & Electric utility truck was the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run-crash in El Cajon that left a homeless man dead, police said Friday.

The victim, Robert Fisher, 54, was crossing Jamacha Road south of East Main Street outside of a crosswalk about 10 p.m. Monday when he was run over by the truck, police said.
