A portion of Lakeway Drive was closed early Thursday morning, April 17, after a woman crashed her SUV into a power pole, according to the Bellingham Police Department.

Police believe Tawny Lesha Julius, 22, was intoxicated when she crashed her 2002 Cadillac Escalade into a power pole near Lisa Lane just before 2 a.m., causing the pole to buckle and collapse onto her car, police spokesman Bob Vander Yacht said.

29-year-old man, 32-year-old woman slightly injured, taken to hospital; Robert Allen Lee, 23, arrested, after leaving the scene of a two-car crash on Squalicum Parkway in Bellingham.

A police dog sniffed out a felon suspected of causing a T-bone hit-and-run crash that injured two people Tuesday morning, April 8, near St. Joseph hospital, police said.

Francisca S. Rabang-Warbus, 36, Thomas R. Warbus, 36, both passengers, seriously injured, transported to hospital, after their car collides with a vehicle, driven by Jaden Tiechert, 24, on Britton Rd. and the Mt. Baker Highway in Bellingham.

Two people were injured Wednesday morning, April 2, when two cars collided on Mount Baker Highway at Britton Road.

A westbound 1994 Honda Accord was turning left onto Britton Road at about 11:05 a.m. when it was struck by an eastbound 1998 Ford Escort, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The force of the crash shoved the Honda into a North Whatcom Fire and Rescue SUV that was stopped in the turn lane on Britton.

Joel R. Swenson, 33, a passenger in car driven by Aaron C. Loffler, 35, injured, taken to hospital, after their car leaves the Alderwood Ave. roadway and crashes into a power pole.

A Bellingham man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault after a passenger in his car was injured in a suspected drunk driving crash early Thursday, March 13, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Aaron C. Loffler, 35, was driving his 2004 Volkswagen Jetta west on Alderwood Avenue at about 2:15 a.m., when he drove off the road and struck a power pole near Marine Drive. The car came to rest in a ditch, and Loffler ran from the scene.

A 57-year-old man faces charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence after a rollover crash Thursday night, Feb. 27, on Roeder Avenue.

Witnesses told police the Ford Ranger driven by Thomas Peter Tom had been speeding at 60 mph in a 35 mph zone around 9:40 p.m. on Roeder, near the intersection with Coho Way.

Car crashes into the entrance of a U.S. post office in downtown Bellingham. No injuries reported.

A car crashed into the south entrance of the U.S. post office on Prospect Street at about 11 a.m. Feb. 28, according to several witness reports.

As of 3 p.m., the post office was open and serving people through the north entrance.

The post office is undergoing an inspection following the crash, which dislodged several exterior bricks, broke glass and warped the doorframe, to make sure the building is still safe.

Taylor Armstrong 23, one other male, airlifted to hospital in serious condition, Charles Wicklander 24, transported to hospital with minor injuries, after their Jeep crashed down 200 foot embankment near the Mt. Baker Ski Area.

A helicopter airlifted a 23-year-old man to St. Joseph hospital Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 11, when a Jeep tumbled about 200 feet over an embankment near the Mt. Baker Ski Area.

A sudden snowfall just before dawn Friday, Feb. 7 has created hazardous driving conditions and put school buses on snow routes in the Bellingham and Lummi Nation school districts.

One person was killed when their car caught on fire after striking another vehicle on a residential stretch of Barkley Boulevard Sunday morning, Jan. 5, according to police.

It appeared one vehicle was headed down the hill on Barkley Boulevard around 9:55 a.m. when it slid on the icy road, crossed the centerline near Brandywine Way and hit another car headed up the hill, a Bellingham Police Sgt. said.

A head-on crash on Guide Meridian left two young men dead early Tuesday, Dec. 31, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Travis Lee Holst, 23, the driver of a green '03 Chevy Tahoe, had been speeding and driving erratically northbound on Guide Meridian before he crossed the center line near Smith Road. The Tahoe crashed head-on into a silver '97 Honda Civic driven by Brox Mitchell Browning, 20, of Lynden, at 12:17 a.m.

Browning died at the scene. He had a seatbelt on.
