Winter Garden man killed in crash on Turnpike

A Winter Garden man was killed Sunday night in a two vehicle crash on the Florida Turnpike in Orange County. The crash happened at 9:10 p.m. in the southbound lanes at mile marker 259. Sims and a passenger in his truck were not injured. Troopers said Thompson’s truck then traveled onto the west shoulder and overturned. The Florida Highway Patrol said Terrance D. Thompson, 48, was driving his pickup truck south in the inside lane and traveled into the right lane and collided with a pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Robert Sims of Boca Raton.

We heard his words this evening in recognition of his life, at Black History month celebration where he delivered the Martin Luther King Jr speech one year ago. He will be missed. Our condolences.
