Taylor Scott Swing, 18, and Cecily Hamilton, 16, killed in car crash into Town Creek near Gene Nix Road in Cleveland, Georgia
White County Deputy Corner Josh Barrett identified the two victims as 18-year old Taylor Scott Swing and 16 year old Cecily Hamilton, both of Cleveland. Barrett said, “ preliminary investigation, it’s going to be ruled a drowning at this point, there’s no physical signs of any other injuries other than that.”
Since his daughter’s death, Hamilton said community outreach and a scholarship organization in Cecily’s honor, http://www.bringit4cec.org/, has helped him through the pain. Scholarships will be awarded for cheerleading, one of his daughter’s passions, he said.
White County officials have placed temporary concrete barriers at a bridge on Gene Nix Road, where the father of one of two fatal wreck victims was arrested Sunday for trying to put up his own barriers.
Shannon Hamilton was arrested for trying to put guardrails up near a small bridge where his 16-year-old daughter and her friend died in March. Hamilton said he understands why he was arrested and isn't upset with police.
“I expressed to (Hamilton) my sympathies for the tragedy his family had suffered, and he was very apologetic about his actions,” the prosecutor said. “I was very understanding of the grief he was suffering.”
Taylor Scott Swing, 18, of Cleveland, Georgia, was the driver of a vehicle that for unknown reasons left Gene Nix Road, went off an embankment, and overturned in Town Creek on Sunday. Local media reports that a 16-year-old girl from White County also died in the single-vehicle crash.
