Motorcyclist dies after hitting deer

A Stanley man on a motorcycle died late Friday after running into a deer, according to New Mexico State Police.

Ike Dickmeyer, 55, was killed in the crash that happened around 11:15 p.m. at mile marker 11 on N.M. 344, north of Edgewood.

State Police said the preliminary investigation shows that Dickmeyer was going south on N.M. 344 when the collision happened. He died from his injuries at the scene.

Fly High On That Mountain Ike ..... Ike was my ex brother in law and was the only Uncle to my three kids Mark, Dustin & Shawna .. Ike is survived by his two kids Jaimee and Justin..As well as ex wife Paula Dickmeyer...Also survived by Mother Judith Holden and Brother Mark Dickmeyer ...Also several nieces and nephews ..Ike died what he loved doing and that was riding his bike and wouldn't wanted to go any other way.. Rest In Peace Ike Dickmeyer

Correction.  He is survived by two sons, Branden and Justin and  his first wife, Chris Dickmeyer.

In addition to his mother, Judith Holman, and younger brother, Mark Dickmeyer, Ike is survived by his father, Junior Dwayne Dickmeyer and older sister, Terri Kaspar.

Actually, as seen by the damage to the motorcycle, the deer hit Ike broadside, thus killing them both. Very sad day for all of us!

Was Ike in the USMC in the late 70's to early 80's? Stationed on Okinawa from 79-80?
