Three people are dead after a single-car accident Saturday afternoon, and State Troopers investigating the accident said Monday that a 9-year-old girl is the wreck's only survivor.
Investigators said 30-year-old Melina Cheyenne Pruitt was driving on Bostic Road near Gordo, Ala. when her 2002 Ford Explorer went out of control, left the roadway and struck a tree.
Pruitt was killed, as were 12-year-old Cailey Goad and Railyn Pruitt, who was 7.
The 9-year-old survivor was not identified, but a representative for the State Troopers said she was hospitalized at Children's of Alabama in Birmingham where her injuries were being treated.
The investigation is ongoing, but investigators said seat belts were not in use at the time of the accident, which happened at 4:35 Saturday afternoon.
