A 44-year-old Ansonia man was killed in a crash on Route 7 North in Brookfield on Thursday night.

One person was killed and two injured after a head-on crash caused by a wrong-way driver on northbound Route 7 in Brookfield late Thursday, state police said.

The wrong-way driver, later identified as Alejandro Miranda 44, was killed and two passengers in a Jeep were injured and taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles were destroyed. The crash was reported at 11:46 p.m. Thursday.

Those injured were identfied as Michael Finn, 39, of Brookfield, and Meghan Harrison, 29, of New Milford.

State police did not release the identity of the man killed in the crash, pending notification of next of kin. They did say he was from Ansonia.

Alabama Department of Public Safety officials say a Theodore woman has died in a three-car crash on Alabama 217.

Sgt. Steve Jarrett says 24-year-old Miranda Hamilton was killed when the pickup truck she was driving was hit by a Dodge Ram and overturned near Semmes.

Authorities say Hamilton wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and the accident is under investigation.

Semmes is about 15 miles northwest of Mobile.

At least one person died in the crash of a small plane into a rural south-central Pennsylvania field, state police said.

Police said the crash early Thursday scattered debris over a quarter-mile area north of Gettysburg.

He said the plane was destroyed, but there didn't appear to have been a fire or explosion.

Hicks said neighbors in the Biglerville area heard what sounded like engine trouble and then the noise of the crash at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

A pedestrian was killed on Friday after she was struck by an SUV in Elmore County.

According to police, 21-year-old Miranda McGlamery of Eclectic was killed when she was struck by a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 52-year-old Marion Baker of Elmore. The accident occurred on Alabama Highway 14 around mile marker 163 at 3:25 a.m.

McGlamery was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, the driver was not injured.

Nothing further is available at this time as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

Drowning was the cause of death of a woman who drove her SUV into Fall Creek on Friday morning, according to an autopsy today.

The Marion County coroner’s office ruled that Miranda Dermanelian, 25, Indianapolis, died of asphyxia due to drowning, according to a news release today from the Division of Law Enforcement of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The accident happened just before 2 p.m. when an 84-year-old Vancouver man driving south in the northbound portion of I-5 crashed head-on into a car driven by a La Center woman who had two children in her vehicle.

A person was killed early Sunday during a wrong-way crash involving two vehicles on state Route 94 in central San Diego.

The crash occurred at about 2:16 a.m. on eastbound SR-94 east of Federal Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a suspected drunken driver was behind the wheel of a black BMW that entered the wrong side of the freeway and slammed into a black Nissan Sentra, killing the other driver instantly.
