A man is dead after a late-night motorcycle crash in Murfreesboro.

According to The Daily News Journal, 41-year-old Mareo J. Estrello was riding his Harley down Halls Hill Pike when he veered off the road and crashed near Adams Lane around 11 p.m. Sunday.

There is still no word on what caused the crash.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, which is ongoing.

A retired officer in the Tennessee National Guard was killed in an off-road vehicle wreck.

Retired Major Lee Sharber died when he lost control of his off-road vehicle around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. He was 44.

Sharber was on a dune buggy with his girlfriend, Leslie Johansen, on Motlow Road when the vehicle hit a patch of uneven surface.

A 51-year-old man was killed in a crash Sunday on Old Lebanon Road.

According to police, David Hawkins was killed in the crash. He was attempting to turn when his truck skidded off the road through a resident's yard before striking a tree.

Hawkins was not wearing a seat belt, according to the police report. Police said the seat belt could have made a difference.

A child has died and his mother was hurt in a hit-and-run collision allegedly caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Smyrna on Thursday afternoon.

The crash was reported about 1:30 p.m. at mile marker 66, near Sam Ridley Parkway. The child, his mother and his sister were outside their car changing a flat tire when they were struck.

A woman has died after a crash last week on Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna.

Police said 86-year-old Lottie M. Hunter was driving a Chevrolet Aveo westbound near the intersection with Motlow College Boulevard about 5 p.m. Friday when she failed to stop at the red light, striking a Chevrolet Cruze.

Hunter was transported to the hospital, along with the occupants of the Cruze, Leonard and Diane Moore, both 55 and of Smyrna.

A motorcyclist was killed when officials say he crashed his bike into a minivan on eastbound Interstate 24 Monday night.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, witnesses say 27-year-old Robert Sullivan was driving behind a Dodge Caravan at a high rate of speed before he crashed into the minivan near mile marker 79 at 8:45 p.m.

The motorcycle caught on fire, and Sullivan was killed in the crash.

A 2-year-old boy was injured after being thrown out of a car during a crash in Christiana Monday night.

The crash happened on Highway 231 near McKaig Road just after 7 p.m.

Police say the driver of a Chevy Silverado slammed into the back of the Nissan Maxima the child was in, causing the car to go off the left side of the road and eject the boy.

The Silverado then hit a Freightliner tractor-trailer before going off the right side of the road.

One person has died after a head-on crash Monday morning in Murfreesboro. The crash was reported before noon near the intersection of Old Nashville Highway and Amanda Way.

A witness was inside her house when she heard a horrible collision.

She ran outside to see two damaged vehicles, including an SUV with six women inside that ended up flipped upside-down in her front yard.

The witness said most of the women were still hanging by their seat belts.

The Murfreesboro Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that happened Friday morning.

The pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Middle Tennessee Boulevard and Greenland Drive just before 9 a.m.

The person was taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.

The pedestrian's name has not been released at this time.

Interstate 24 on Saturday night became a chicken roast.

A truck carrying 48,000 lbs of chicken tenders crashed and caught on fire, according to a Tennessee Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

The crash, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. Saturday near mile marker 76 in Rutherford County, blocked the westbound lanes. By 1:30 p.m. today, the lanes were clear, Lambert reported.
