A man was airlifted to a hospital after a two-car crash Tuesday evening in The Acreage, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said.

The wreck took place just east of an intersection where a boy died and three other people were injured last month.

The crash occurred just after 5 p.m. on Northlake Boulevard east of Hall Boulevard, about eight miles west of Florida’s Turnpike, said. Capt. Albert Borroto, Fire Rescues spokesman.

Crews examined the occupants of both vehicles at the scene and had Trauma Hawk fly one man to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach with serious injuries, Borroto said.

The helicopter touched down on the grounds of Pierce Hammock Elementary School on Northlake, east of Hall and the crash site.

The Hall-Northlake intersection has been the site of at least 15 crashes since 2009, with many of them happening at the stop sign, which area residents have said easy to miss for cars traveling on Hall Boulevard. At least two crashes since December 2012 have resulted in deaths.

Acreage residents have urged the Indian Trail Improvement District, which governs roads in The Acreage, to work with Palm Beach County to make the intersection safer.
