Grover was airlifted to Sacred Heart Bay Medical, and was wearingi a seat belt at the time of the crash. Officers believe she probably suffered a medical emergency while driving, causing her to lose control of the vehicle.
Two teenagers were injured when their car left the road on Interstate 10 and flipped. Both Javier and Scott suffered serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Both were wearing their seatbelts, but were traveling too fast for the weather conditions.
Shelton Joseph, 19, was arrested for DUI causing serious bodily injury in the crash that happened around 2 a.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of I-95 at Northwest 103rd Street. Joseph was taken into custody at the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol says Kenneth Yarborough was killed on the exit ramp to Palm Coast Parkway while exiting Interstate 95. The passenger of the car, Omayra Jarrett, was taken to Halifax medical center with serious injuries. An alcohol test on the deceased driver is pending.
"The driver at fault just started hitting cars," said Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes. "He hit five vehicles, rear-ended the other semi that catches fire. After the impact with the second semi, three more vehicles were hit after that."
The driver of a pickup failed to negotiate a curve, over corrected and flipped a number of times. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He ied from his injuries. Alcohol tests are pending.
McPhail was traveling west between US Highway 27 and State Road 60 when she lost control of her car. The vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree; there were no other vehicles involved and she was the only passenger. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
