Wife killed in crash into brick wall in Orlando.
A 63-year-old woman was killed and her husband was injured when their Toyota Camry crashed into a brick wall following a hit-and-run accident in Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened Tuesday night on Hoffner Avenue near La Belle Street in Orange County.
According to troopers, 63-year-old Carl Sala sideswiped a Toyota Corolla but continued traveling and later flipped the car, which crashed into the wall.
"That's a solid block wall," said a witness who described the sound of the crash as a loud explosion.
Linda Sala, a passenger in the Camry, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and later died. Troopers said her husband, who was driving, suffered critical injuries.
The FHP said it's not known if alcohol played a role in the crash. Charges are pending against the driver.
No other information was provided about the vehicle that was sideswiped.
