Patricia Lojewski, 72, killed and Theodore Ferguson, 44, injured in crash on State Route 200 in Yulee, Florida on May 28.

A fatal accident on SR 200/A1A in Yulee had westbound lanes of the road closed for hours Wednesday night as members of the Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash.

According to the FHP a vehicle, driven by 44-year-old Theodore Ferguson, was in the westbound, right lane of SR 200/A1A and approaching Courtney Isle Way. While a second vehicle, driven by 72-year-old Patricia Lojewski, was attempting to cross over the westbound lanes to reach the median from Courtney Isle Way.

The FHP said, for unknown reasons the Lojewski, attempting to cross the westbound lanes violated the right of way of the other vehicle. Lojewski, died at the scene of the accident.

Ferguson was transported to Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville in serious condition Wednesday night.
