Less than two months after his daughter was killed on a film set in southeast Georgia, Richard Jones grapples with waves of unexpected grief, such as a day last week when a riverside walk at home in South Carolina took him past a railroad bridge.

There's growing concern in Hollywood over film crews' safety, as crews feel mounting pressure to push their limits on set. The call for attention to the issue amplified after the death of 27-year-old Sarah Jones.

The victim identified as Sarah Elizabeth Jones was among the crew filming a dream sequence on a train trestle when they were surprised by an oncoming freight train.

Tragedy struck the film set of the Greg Allman biopic “Midnight Rider” when crew member Sarah Jones was killed in a train accident in Georgia. Jones was also on the crew of the CW show “The Vampire Diaries.”

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the woman killed in Thursday's train accident. They say 27-year-old Sarah Jones of Atlanta was working as part of a film crew for Meddin Studios when she was killed.

An investigator says a movie crew involved in a fatal collision with a freight train in southeast Georgia was filming on the tracks without permission from the railroad.

A 27-year-old woman, identified as Sarah Jones, was killed and seven crew members were injured Thursday when the train struck as they were shooting footage for "Midnight Rider," a film based on the life of singer Gregg Allman.

A Wayne County Sheriff's detective said Friday that the crew had permission to be on private property next to the tracks. But he said CSX Railroad told investigators the crew had no permission to work on the tracks themselves. Gardner says the tracks were littered with debris from the crew's equipment, including what looked like a mattress.

Trespassing onto railroad tracks is a misdemeanor under Georgia law.
