Benni Sumner was airlifted to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, and Cyril Ward was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital. Four-year-old Brayden Ward, a passenger in Cyril Ward’s vehicle, was treated and released from Mendota Community Hospital.

The motorcycle driver was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The female passenger was also taken to Northwestern, where her condition had stabilized.

A rural Mansfield man was pronounced dead at the scene of a helicopter crash that occurred Tuesday morning north of Mansfield.

Paul Reynolds was piloting the crop-dusting helicopter in the vicinity of Piatt County Highway 2 and County Road 1300 E when it crashed, said the Piatt County Sheriff's Office.

The Bell 47G-5 aircraft hit power lines, then crashed in a field, added Elizabeth Cory, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration that is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash in conjunction with the National Transportation Safety Board.

The man killed in a motorcycle crash early Friday has been identified as Timothy J. Connolly, 41, of Channahon.

Police Chief Jeff Wold said two people were riding a Suzuki motorcycle at about 1:40 a.m. on Center Street near Route 6. Neither Connolly nor his passenger, an adult woman, were wearing helmets, Wold said.

"It appears he was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control where the road curves and went into the ditch," Wold said.

SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - One person was killed in a crash on Route 34 in Saline County on Wednesday morning.

It happened 1/4 mile south of Womble Road shortly before 6 a.m.

According to Illinois State Police, 61-year-old Cheryl R. Shaffer of Rosiclare died in the collision.

Police say a tractor trailer saw animals to the side of the road and shifted lanes. Shaffer's car moved to avoid the crash but the tractor trailer moved into the same lane, as well. Both vehicles collided.

Shaffer was pronounced at the scene.

The Ogle County Sheriff's Department says two men have died after their motorcycles collided on a highway.

The sheriff's office on Monday identified the victims as 50-year old Michael Gonzalez of Chicago and 67-year-old Richard Zimmerman of Lanark (LAN'-ahrk). Officials say a woman riding on Gonzalez's motorcycles was also seriously injured in the crash Sunday in northern Illinois. She was taken by helicopter to a Rockford medical center and officials said she was in critical condition.

The Illinois State Police are asking the public for help in finding a hit-and-run semi driver accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal crash on Interstate 70 near Troy.

Westbound Interstate 70 was closed Wednesday morning in the aftermath of the accident. As of 8 a.m. accident investigators were reconstructing the crash and Illinois State Police spokesman Calvin Dye Jr. said authorities were unsure when it would reopen.

Authorities are searching for a semi-truck after a deadly accident in the Metro East Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, an Impala was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 when the driver lost control and swerved to the right then the left before being hit by a semi-truck. The semi-truck left the scene without stopping.

After the first semi-truck hit the Impala, a second semi-truck which was carrying corn hit the car. After the second collision, the Impala went into a ravine while the semi-truck rolled over and was facing the wrong way.

A tire that flew off an SUV bounced across an interstate highway in Chicago and slammed into a car, causing an accident that killed its driver.

The Illinois State Police says the accident took place Wednesday morning along Interstate 94 on Chicago's South Side. Police identified the victim as 64-year-old Jovanka Mijatov of Schererville, Indiana.

The tire came off an SUV in the southbound lanes, then bounced into the northbound lanes and struck the car.

The car's driver was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
