Duck hunters rescued a motorist whose car was swept away by high water in southern Indiana today, but the driver’s wife — a passenger in the vehicle — is still unaccounted for, according to the state’s Department of Natural Resources.

Kathryn McGill, 31, Des Plaines, Ill., was riding in the vehicle being driven by her husband, Adam McGill, 35, when it was swept off the road in floodwaters on Ind. 257 near the Pike County and Daviess County line.

The hunters noticed a vehicle headed south on Ind. 257 trying to navigate floodwaters about 7:45 a.m. After watching it be swept off the road, the hunters drove their boat to the area where the vehicle was last seen.

They were able to rescue Adam McGill but could not locate his wife.

Adam McGill was taken to Daviess County Community Hospital in Washington, Ind., and later to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville for treatment of hypothermia.
