Authorities say one person has been killed in an early morning traffic crash in Standish.

A Wednesday morning two car accident on Chadbourne Road, or Route 35, killed one person and sent the other to the hospital.

Standish Fire/Police said the accident happened shortly after 5 a.m. David V. Fortin, 53, from West Baldwin, was driving east on Chadbourne road. Vivian E. Densmore, 38, from Naples was traveling west bound on the same road when she crested a hill and lost control of her car. Snow and ice were covering the road. Densmore struck Fortin's vehicle almost head on. Fortin was not wearing a seatbelt and medical officials pronounced him dead at the scene. Densmore sustained serious injuries and medical officials transported her to Maine Medical.

Route 35 between Routes 114 and 237 was closed for most of the morning due to the accident. Officials believe the weather conditions and speed were factors in the crash.
