A 31-year-old Weidman man is dead after the car he was riding in and a semitrailer collided in Isabella County, police report. The Michigan State Police are investigating the fatal traffic crash that happened at 8:17 p.m Tuesday, July 22, near the intersection of West Coleman and North Littlefield in Isabella County's Gilmore Township. The passenger of a Pontiac G6, identified as 31-year-old Aaron Jacob Latham of Weidman, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced at the scene, the Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post reports. A preliminary investigation determined that a 1999 Peterbilt semitrailer was eastbound on West Coleman and the 2005 Pontiac G6 was southbound on North Littlefield. The Pontiac made a right turn onto West Coleman, police said. The semitrailer driver attempted to avoid the Pontiac by crossing over into the westbound lane of West Coleman, however, the driver of the Pontiac corrected back into the westbound lane, where the collision occurred. The driver of the Pontiac G6, a 24-year-old Remus woman, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene by Aeromed to the Butterworth Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids.
