The 16-year-old girl from Portage turned east on West Melody when she collided with the southbound train around 7 a.m. Wednesday. Witnesses told police the railroad crossing signals were functioning properly when the teen turned into the path of the train. She suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
