In the ruling, Mohs was found 50 percent responsible for the fatal crash and shared "casual fault" with the bars that served him the day of the accident.

Mohs got 57 months in prison for his bender. Now, in what may be the largest civil trial judgment in Olmsted County history, a judge has awarded $15 million to Mohs' victims. Half of that money will come from three taverns that served him when they should have realized he was drunk, the judge ruled.

The suspect fled on foot after the crash and was arrested about two hours later near the Paragon Chateau movie theater in northeast Rochester, about 5 miles from the scene of the accident. Authorities believe the 57-year-old Rochester man was under the influence of alcohol, says Sgt. Dan Monnet. A 29-year-old woman and two juvenile passengers transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus for treatment; the extent of their injuries is unknown.
