Police say 22-year-old Cory M. Cozad of Council Bluffs was riding northbound on 132nd Street near I Street, accelerated rapidly and ran a red light. Investigators say his motorcycle crashed into the back of a semi that was turning from southbound 132nd onto eastbound I Street.

Cozad suffered multiple injuries, including: broken ribs, a right scapula fracture and a fractured left femur; he is expected to recover, though. He was also cited for negligent driving and no motorcycle endorsement, and was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet.
