Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies say John Linehan, 22 of Livonia, tried to pass a dump truck when he struck a vehicle driven by Theodore Markel, 41.

The Sheriff's Office says a southbound car driven by John Linehan of Livonia was passing a southbound dump truck hauling a backhoe and crashed into an oncoming car.

Authorities have released the names of those involved in a fatal two-car crash in Livingston County.
It happened around 6 a.m. Thursday on Route 256 in Sparta.
The Sheriff's Office says a southbound car driven by John Linehan of Livonia was passing a southbound dump truck hauling a backhoe and crashed into an oncoming car.
The crash killed the other driver, Theodore Markel of Dansville. The crash injured Linehan and two of Markel's passengers -- Matthew Markel and Joe Greene, both of Dansville.
