Wyant told police she was driving southbound on Route 57 when she saw Silliman run out into the road. She tried to avoid Silliman, but struck her with the right front bumper of her car, police said.

Silliman was transported to the Oswego Hospital's emergency room before being transferred again to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where she was eventually pronounced dead. Silliman allegedly ran into the road but Wyant could not avoid her quickly enough.
