A girl in a stroller was critically injured after being hit by a car in the parking lot of a hospital early Wednesday morning. Her mother was also injured, and the driver was charged with DWI. Melissa Flynn and her daughter Aubrey were injured around 2:45 a.m. at the Alamance Regional Medical Center emergency room off Huffman Mill Road. Both were rushed to the nearby emergency room, which was their intended destination before the collision, Burlington police said. Melissa was treated and released, while Aubrey was later flown to UNC Hospital. Aubrey was in critical condition as of mid-Wednesday morning, police said. Melissa had put Aubrey in a stroller and was walking toward the back of her car when a 1996 Nissan Sentra hit both of them, Burlington police said. Aubrey went underneath the car, and Flynn was knocked onto the hood, police said. The driver, Stormie Vancil, was in the marked travel lane area but left of center, police said. Vancil was charged with DWI after an evaluation, and blood was drawn from the nearby ER, police said.
