Troopers are investigating a crash in Perry County that killed a man. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at about 12 a.m. Saturday, 21-year-old Mark E. Metzger, of Junction City Ohio, was driving a 1998 GMC truck southbound on Toll Gate Road, just south of U.S. 22 near Reading Township, when he lost control of his vehicle. Troopers say the truck traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Metzger was partially ejected in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Valley Enforcement Group is investigating the 10:50 a.m. June 1 two-vehicle accident that took the life of a Adam Schergalis, 19 of Bainbridge. Schergalis, pronounced dead at the scene, was riding his motorcycle southbound on Chillicothe Road as a Bainbridge woman, 61, was turning from the northbound lane onto the US-422 west ramp. Her name has not been released. No charges have been filed pending the investigation.

A crash on U.S 50. in Clermont County’s Stonelick Township sent a car into a creek, and set off a large scale emergency response. Troopers said Darin Grubbs fell asleep behind the wheel just before his car went off the road and down a steep embankment, tumbled into a creek and landed on its roof just before 11 p.m. Grubbs, 18, escaped with minor injuries, but a 4-year-old boy was still trapped in the nearly submerged car when firefighters arrived.
