PORTLAND -- A Vancouver teen was killed Sunday afternoon after being hit near the Greyhound bus depot in downtown Portland.
She was identified Monday as Monserrat Hernandez Garcia, 18, by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's office.
Garcia was hit around 3:50 p.m. at Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Glisan Street, Portland police said. Officers said she died at the scene.
The bus was an Amtrak charter bus driven by Charles Atarashi Start, 68, of Portland. A preliminary investigation shows that the driver turned from westbound Northwest Glisan Street to northbound 6th Avenue and struck the teen, police said.
Start was not impaired and cooperated with police. The results of the investigation will be turned over the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.
