Police said the driver reported seeing what appeared to be an object in the road and swerved, but was unable to avoid hitting what turned out to be a man. The driver stopped and called 911, but David Pedder of North Huntingdon Township was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two women, both in their 20s, had to extricated from their vehicle. They were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in critical but stable condition. The driver of the second vehicle ran from the scene on foot and remains at large.
Adamsky was traveling southbound on Shortcut Road when the car flipped several times and landed on its roof. Adamsky was not wearing a seatbelt and became trapped under the vehicle. Harrington, who was a passenger in the car, suffered moderate head injuries.
Chad Adamsky, 27, of Vintondale died shortly after midnight in the accident on Shortcut Road in Buffington. His passenger, Brittany Harrington, 19, was injured and taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, police said.
Two people were taken to the hospital Friday night right after their vehicle crashed into a Pittsburgh police cruiser. The injuries seem minor, and no officers had been hurt in the crash, according to police. The crash happened about 10 p.m. close to Marion Street.
