Teen was driving backhoe in York County crash that killed 2, police say

A husband and wife from Hanover died Sunday evening when a backhoe operated by a teenager drove into the path of their car on Route 116 in Heidelberg Township, York County, Southwestern Regional Police said.
A husband and wife from Hanover died Sunday evening when a backhoe operated by a teenager drove into the path of their car on Route 116 in Heidelberg Township, York County, Southwestern Regional Police said. Police identified the victims Monday as Roy Kline Jr., 86, and his 85-year-old wife, Lorraine. They did not identify the 17-year-old who was operating the backhoe and who lives near the scene of the accident. The investigation of the crash is continuing, police said. The crash occurred around 5 p.m. when the backhoe pulled onto Route 116 from a home in the 6400 block of York Road about three miles west of Spring Grove, police said. The Klines were killed instantly when their car hit the backhoe, police said, and the teen was shaken up, but was not injured.
