People on a Port Authority bus were taken to hospitals after the bus was involved in an accident with a truck carrying cement in downtown Pittsburgh. More The crash happened on Second Avenue, near the intersection with Ross Street, directly below the Boulevard of the Allies. A Port Authority police Lt. stated that the 57 Hazelwood bus was at a stop, letting riders off and having new passengers get on, when the truck rear-ended the bus and hit its rear left corner. Minor damage was visible near the left rear lights. The truck flipped onto its side, apparently from a shift of the cement's weight as the driver swerved to try to avoid the bus. Cement was spilled on the road. Nine people were taken to UPMC Mercy and one to Magee-Womens Hospital to be checked for what police believed were minor injuries. Porter said the investigation is ongoing. No charges had been filed as of noon.
