Brieyonah Painter, 18, Brandon Sulava, 19, Brandon Sauers, 15, Crystal Kelley, 41, killed, Robert Kelly, two others critically injured, transported to hospital, after a two-car head-on crash on State Route 156 in South Bend Township.

Four people, three of them teenagers, died in what the Armstrong County coroner is calling a "horrific" head-on crash overnight. State police said the two-vehicle crash happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Route 156 in South Bend Township. "My 30 years with the fire department and emergency services, it's probably one of the worst crashes I've seen," Sheriff Bill Rupert said. "The debris field was scattered for quite a distance." The victims were identified as Brandon Sulava, 19, of Apollo, Brieyonah Painter, 18, of Kittanning, Brandon Sauers, 15, and Crystal Kelley, 41, of Avonmore. Investigators believe Sulava was speeding on the two-lane road when he lost control on a curve, and his vehicle slid sideways into a car that was traveling in the other direction. He died, along with Painter and Sauers, who were his passengers. Kelley was driving the other car. Troopers say three of her passengers, including her husband, Robert, were severely injured and were in critical condition at UPMC Presbyterian. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police believe speed was the major factor. UPDATE: A fifth person has died as a result of this accident. Kent Smith, 34, died of his injuries on 04/17/14.
