The Fayette County coroner has identified the man killed by a train early Saturday morning in Washington Township.
The Fayette County coroner has identified the man killed by a train early Saturday morning in Washington Township. Fayette County Coroner Phillip Reilly said Sandor Macz, 39, was lying on the tracks near 280 Naomi Road when he was struck by a CSX freight train about 3:11 a.m. in heavy fog. Dr. Reilly said the train's operators saw Mr. Macz attempt to sit up before the collision, and an autopsy revealed he was alive before he was struck by the train and killed almost instantly. Investigators have ruled out foul play but are awaiting toxicology reports to determine manner of death. Mr. Macz was not carrying identification information and was identified by a tattoo after a relative contacted police. His exact address was unknown, the coroner said, but he was known to frequent the Fayette City and Belle Vernon area.
