Escondido police arrested a man suspected of crashing a stolen van into another car, then running away Tuesday afternoon.

Richard Berumen, 38, of Escondido, was taken into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing injury and vehicle theft, police said.

A man suffered head injuries when he was struck by a car Tuesday night in Mt. Lebanon. Police say Michael Joseph Puccio, 30, remains in critical condition after he was hit by an SUV while attempting to cross Washington Road in an area where there are no crosswalks.
